Program Info

A spiritual journey from penitence to joy, this program features music by Arvo Pärt, Gabriel Jackson, Robert Carver, Thomas Tallis, and John Tavener. Program includes a setting of the Lamentations (II) by Thomas Tallis, and concludes with two uplifting motets by John Tavener, As one who has slept and Song for Athene.

 

The program also features the world-premiere performance of Tenebrae factae sunt by Jeff Junkinsmith, commissioned by the Byrd Ensemble.
